LEGO Minas Tirith compared to Rivendell and Barad-dûr

Yeah, it's pretty huge

LEGO Minas Tirith compared to Rivendell and Barad-dûr

LEGO Minas Tirith has been available for nearly a week, and thanks to one dedicated fan, we can see exactly how it stacks up next to Rivendell and Barad-dûr.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings fans have had one purchase on their mind this month with the long-awaited debut of 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith. The white-walled fortress city finally has some kind of LEGO representation, and it just so happens to be an 8,000-piece model.

Despite the price tag of £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99, many in the LEGO community have picked up this build as of June 1, even to the point that the set is subject to a hefty back order period. Substantial-Reply-54 is one such enthusiast, adding the big build to their LEGO The Lord of the Rings shelf,

That shelf also holds both 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell and 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-Dur the two other largest LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets currently available.

This provides the rest of us with a useful frame of reference for just how massive 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is. It's taller than Rivendell, but not Barad-dûr. The new set is at least much wider than Barad-dûr and deeper than both builds.

LEGO set Price Pieces
10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99 6,167
10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-Dur £399.99 / $459.99 / €459.99 5,471
11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith £579.99 / $649.99 / €649.99 8,278

It's so big that it needs its own shelf with plenty of space between it and the next shelf. They've also improved the display with the launch event siege tower that you can build at home, the Grond gift-with-purchase available until June 7 or while stocks last, and an army of orcs.

You can now go into 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith with a good idea of just how much room it needs to be sufficiently displayed. Thankfully, the set is not even close to minifigure-scale on the outside.
