A Texas man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison and fined $10,000 following a retail theft spree that included more than 200 stolen LEGO sets.
28-year-old Winston Love was convicted of organised retail theft with a deadly weapon after investigators linked him to a 50-day theft operation spanning North Texas and Oklahoma in 2025.
Authorities estimated that more than $300,000 worth of merchandise was stolen during the spree, with LEGO products making up a significant portion of the haul.
According to investigators, the stolen goods included more than 200 LEGO sets alongside vacuum cleaners, PlayStation controllers and coffee makers.
The investigation began after police accused Love of stealing around $1,200 worth of LEGO products from a Target store in Watauga, Texas, in October 2025. Detectives later connected him to a wider series of thefts across multiple jurisdictions.
After locating Love at a residence, officers took him into custody following a brief standoff. Police said a search of the property led to the recovery of more than $5,000 in cash, narcotics and a vehicle.
Authorities subsequently linked Love to theft investigations across Texas and Oklahoma, leading to his conviction on June 4, 2026.

The case is notable because prosecutors described it as the first jury trial conducted under Texas' updated organised retail theft law, which came into effect on September 1, 2025.
The legislation introduced tougher penalties aimed at large-scale retail theft operations, making Love's conviction one of the first major cases prosecuted under the new statute.
